WANDERING AROUND; BUDE, CORNWALL

Good evening everyone! So it may be raining, gloomy and miserable outside right now but this past weekend was an absolute stunner. Alex and I decided to explore somewhere new yet local on Sunday and we ended up on the North coast of Cornwall in Bude. Bude is a seaside town with a beautiful canal, castle and clifftop views, so we headed off and had a good little wander around.
Bude is so incredibly sceneic with the quaint and nautical houses only feet away from the gorgeous canal, I can't imagine the joy of living here. Unlike alot of coastal locations in Cornwall, Bude is relatively flat, which is a nice change from the long and tiresome downwards steps you usual find yourself traipsing down! With the beach one end, a lovely canal splitting up the middle and a bustle of pubs, cafes and seaside shops either side.
Another thing we weren't expecting was to come across a beautifully built castle. Inside is your usual suspects, cafe, gallery and some pretty cool museum features, including a tiger print bikini from the 60's!

Cornish icecream - blackcurrent in a chocolate dipped waffle cone. Can I hear angels?!
We sat down next to the canal and ate lunch in the Olive Tree. I don't usually opt for eating outside (pesky seagulls!) but this was one lunchtime view you couldn't miss out on. The canal is very tranquil and relaxing to enjoy, you can also hire a pedalo shaped like a swan, however we weren't daring enough!
It's always so satisfying finding a new favourite place in your local area, I definitely don't take advantage of my humble home county of Cornwall enough and i'm so glad we explored on the beautiful sunny Sunday. I think i'll be heading back here when the seasons change to explore it all over again.
What's your favourite spot in your hometown?
