Back in March when I turned the big twenty three my boyfriend, Alex, bought me the amazing gift of a trip to Spain in the summertime to both attend Festival International de Benicassim and also explore the area. After many painful months of waiting, it finally came around and it was such a beautiful trip. I couldn't wait to show the photographs!
Is there anything more perfect than multi coloured buildings reflecting in the water?!
Lover of a tradition, every time Alex and I adventure abroad we always look for the local zoo. Luckily for us, where we were staying was only an hours drive away from the Valencia Bioparc so off we headed to enjoy some cute little creatures! We opted to hire a car around Spain and the zoo was very easy to find, located just outside of the city. We were also fortunate enough to find a free entry coupon in our hotel so keep your eyes peeled for those as entry is twenty seven euros!
I was so impressed with the condition of the park in Valencia, everything was very clean and well kept, the animals had great open spaces and were mixed to the best of the parks ability to keep it as similar to their normal habitats as possible. The list of animals was slightly smaller than other zoos I have been to however taking the weather in to account, i'm sure poor little penguins wouldn't enjoy it too much!
After having both pizza and McDonalds on the first day due to tiredness and laziness (don't judge us!), it was about time we tried some local cuisine! We ordered the paella and I was a bit apprehensive as seafood does scare me a bit but much to my delight, it was chicken, woo! It was delicious and I highly recommend it!
We wanted to stay somewhere central to exploring and we ended up finding the lovely little town of Oropesa Del Mar. The location was perfect because we needed to be close to both Benicassim for the festival and we wanted to visit both Valencia and Barcelona which it sat almost bang in the middle of. Our hotel was across the road from the beach and our room had the cutest little balcony with a view across.
I love watermelon, I love icecream and I love cliche instagram style photography, voila!
More travel diaries coming soon, have you ever been to Valencia?
